Shortly after 2am on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 Firefighter/Paramedics from The Westchester Fire Department received a call of a woman actively in labor.
Upon their arrival 2 of our newest department members FF/PM Reilly Curran and FF/PM Mark Krueger along with the assistance of Captain Sean O’Connor and FF/PM Kevin Dotson assisted the mother who had given birth. The medics were able to apply a cord clamp which allowed the father the opportunity to cut the cord. Mother and baby were assessed and baby’s cries were said to be strong. With the assistance of Broadview Fire Department both the new Mother and baby were transported to the hospital without incident.
Both FF/PM Curran and FF/PM Mark Krueger were given Stork pins by Interim Chief Carl Reina along with EMS Coordinator Lieutenant Eric Biskup.
