On Friday October 27, 2023 at approximately 1215 hours Westchester Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the 1500 block of Newcastle Avenue for a report of a subject in the street who was just shot multiple times.
Officers located a male victim who was in his late 40’s on the porch of a residence who had sustained multiple non-life threatening gunshot wounds to his back and legs. The subject was treated on scene and transported to Loyola Hospital for treatment. Statements related that the incident was domestic related stemming from an argument between the victim, his wife, and their 18-year-old son who was the offender in the shooting.
The offender fled the scene on foot with a firearm in his possession. A Code Red Notification was sent out to the affected area and the Middle School was placed on a lockdown. The offender was located a short time later and taken into custody and firearm recovered without incident. There is no further threat to the public and the lockdown was lifted. This is an active crime scene and Detectives are still on the scene.
