On 09/16/23 around 14:00 a female suspect followed around multiple individuals at the Jewel-Osco grocery store located at 2128 Mannheim Rd. The suspect appeared to drop money while in checkout lanes to see if other customers would notice. In some cases, unsuspecting victims (seemingly targeting elderly) would point it out and the suspect would pick it up and hand it to them implying it was actually the customers money, to engage them in conversation.
In 2 cases this female suspect followed customers out to their vehicles and assisted in "helping" place their groceries into their respective vehicles. One of these instances, resulted in a victim having her purse rummaged through and items taken including credit cards. The victim confronted the suspect at which time the cards were returned, however other items, including a sim card may have been taken. Video shows the suspect appear to follow several other customers to the parking lot but did not interact with each. The investigation is ongoing, however anyone with similar incidents, or who can identify the pictured subject, Please contact the Westchester Police Department Detective Unit.
