On May 17th, members of the Westchester Police Department took possession of a toybox from Westchester Resident Liz Saucedo who started a foundation called “Love, Lila”. Saucedo’s daughter Lila, had a medical condition and had multiple doctor visits over the course of her life. No child enjoys being in the hospital, let alone comprehends why things are happening to them. During those visits, Lila’s parents noticed there was one thing that seemed to bring her some joy.
A simple cart brought in by nurses that was filled with various toys, stuffed animals and games. These small gestures seemed to lessen the stress of everything that Lila was enduring. Love Lila was created as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization to do just that. Westchester Officers working on cases where children are brought into the police station, will be able to reduce the stress a child goes through with the help of Love Lila by letting them pick and keep a toy from the toybox, in hopes that it brings them some comfort.
