New I-Pass Stickers

New I-Pass Stickers
This month the Illinois Tollway will be phasing out the clunky plastic I-Pass transponders and rolling out new RFID sticker transponders. The stickers are smaller, cheaper and don’t require batteries to operate.
The stickers do not expire and are primed for immediate use on local tollways upon activation with your I-PASS account. The stickers will also work in the 19 states that are part of the E-ZPass program. Use on the Skyway and in E-ZPass states may experience a 24-hour delay upon activation. The stickers will attach directly to your vehicle’s windshield, but once they are in place they cannot be removed without destroying the sticker. I-Pass users will be able to link multiple stickers to the same account, meaning the stickers won’t need to be moved between vehicles.

The stickers should be available this month at the Illinois Tollway customer service locations, oases, and tollway headquarters. They should be available at Jewel-Osco locations and online in February. You don’t have to switch to the stickers immediately as your current transponder will remain operational until it expires. The Illinois Tollway will not require a deposit for the stickers. If you do switch to the sticker, your $10 deposit for the old transponder will be credited to your current I-Pass account.
