Village of Westchester - Full-Time Utility Billing Clerk
Annual Compensation: $50,169.60 - $70,324.80 ($24.12- $33.81 per hour), starting wage dependent on experience.
Position Overview:
The Village of Westchester is currently seeking a motivated, focused, and team-oriented Full-Time Utility Billing Clerk to join our team and provide specialized administrative support to the Village's utility billing and account management functions. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Village Manager, the Utility Billing Clerk plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy of customer accounts, responding efficiently to inquiries, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our customer service.
The responsibilities of the Utility Billing Clerk include maintaining a high level of accuracy while managing customer accounts, reconciling inconsistencies, and verifying utility service charges. Regular tasks include, but are not limited to, verifying legal ownership and local jurisdiction of properties, creating new accounts, accepting utility bill payments, balancing receipts and cash drawer, issuing shut-off notices, processing liens as a result of delinquent bills, and assisting with front desk responsibilities such as answering phones and helping walk-in customers. Serving as the point of contact for customer inquiries, the Utility Billing Clerk demonstrates exceptional customer service while addressing concerns, resolving complaints, and explaining billing processes. Successfully completing these tasks requires organizing, maintaining, and researching office files as well as utilizing a computer to compose business correspondence, manage databases and spreadsheets, and develop reports. Additionally, this position requires effective communication and collaboration with other departments and provides general operational support as needed.
Qualifications:
Qualifications for this role include a high school diploma or GED and two (2) years of administrative support experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
Hours and Compensation:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The annual salary range for this position is $50,169.60 - $70,324.80 per year, with the hiring range negotiable depending on prior experience. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The Village offers a generous benefit package, including but not limited to:
